Any of you ever named your kids after famous athletes or sports personalities?

no.. but my first son I brought up naming him Gehrig...
and my second I wanted Mattingly...
I was shot down both times..

I first heard the name " Quinn" from Quinn Buckner and Quinn Snyder and liked the name.My son is named Quinn but not after either one of these guys.

All of my pets have been named after baseball players. We have had dogs named Matty (Mattingly), Mickey, Pudge (Rodriguez), Tex (Teixeira) and Babe.

Has very little to do with the thread topic, but we thought we were going to have twin boys last time. In typical redneck fashion, we were going to name them Hunter and Fisher. We only had one so named him Hunter.

I suggested we name our first dog Mickey and we did. My wife was mad when I said I named him after Mickey Mantle.
