How many do you buy/submit/return?

When a new mint issue comes out (e.g. proof set, mint set, or commemorative), which will shortly be required for your registry set, how many do you buy? Then, how many do you submit for grading and do you return the non-submittals to the mint for a refund?

When I collected modern commens, I bought 5 of each issue and made sure that they were at least MS-68 quality when I submitted them to PCGS. If they were less than MS-68, I would sell the coins raw on E-Bay noting any problems.
Each year, I buy anywhere from 10 to 25 mint sets when they come out. I search through the coins individually after cutting them out and submit the best examples I see. I shoot for the following grades or better for submission: Lincoln - MS-68, Jefferson MS-66FS, Roosevelt MS-68, quarters MS-67, Kennedy MS-67, and Sac MS-68. If the coins grade less that that, I do not submit them, and set them aside. I select the nicest examples from the leftovers for my Dansco albums and then throw the rest in my coin jar.
