Do you appreciate a nice set of Barber dimes?

I hadn't thought about mine for a couple of years until last night, Christmas.
I was looking thru an album of dupes I'd upgraded.
I did remember that it took me 2 or 3 years to get my collection where I was
satisfied with it. So I trudged down the stairs and got mine from the safe.
I reviewed the mintages and saw 22 with under 2 million.
13 of these were under 1 million. Several about a half million.
Imagine what a set of Lincolns would be worth with numbers like those!
Happy New Year to all.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.

Just goes to prove that popularity, design, supply & demand and longevity play a large part in this hobby.

    Enjoy the Barbers!

I enjoy the 3 I have. I have hardly any Barber anything but by far the nicest is a 1915 dime...

A relatively underappreciated set compared with their bigger cousins. I'm sure it's a very nice set. Post some pics!

In my boyhood collecting days, the Barber dime was my favorite for a time. That was about 35 years ago. I have not paid much attention to them in the last 30+ years.

Yes I do. It's the primary series I collect.

Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee coin. I have always like Barber Dimes.

Here is a funny story for you. A friend of mine was dredging for gold at an old mining site and when he came up to see what was in his sluice, he found an 1898 Barber dime. He gave it to me. It worn and not valuable but has history behind it.

The 1897 pictured above graded MS62 by PCGS. I cracked it out of an NGC AU58 slab.

Edited to add: The image was taken by Mark Goodman.

I was going to say 63 on the 1897.....................nice coin!

And I too love Barber Dimes!

Here is a pic of a nice 96-S I got a while back out of a DLRC auction.

  • I've got 3 complete G-F Barber dime sets mounted in old 1938-style coin boards and sitting on my wall.
I have another XF+ toner set complete sitting in the bank.

    Me too!

I had a whitman album and had 3/4 full (mostly good to very Fine for the common dates)

I also had a few key dates in AG and G.

One of my goals for this year was to complete my Barber Dime collection - which I accomplished. I have a nice circulated set of Barber Dimes in a Dansco album, all VG. Although that 1897 tempts me to start another set, this time in MS grades.

I agree with Casey - this Thread needs images.

Here's the 1898-P from my Date Set Collection:

80% of my Barber Dimes are still raw and in a Dansco.
Although the set is complete, I still add PCGS certified
58's thru 63's duplicates to the collection.
