Sounds reasonable. The luster looked pretty good, so I was thinking maybe higher, but the details looked mushy (strike) so I was thinking lower, and I could convince myself of anything from about a VF35 to an AU50. These coins are so tiny -- even more than with most coins, it is hard for a picture to convey what it really looks like in hand.
the dealer who sold it to me called it an AU50. I was after a look and grade range, not a specific grade, so the price, which was quite reasonable, was all that mattered.
It sure is a great looking coin for its age, very nice picture. Grading coins is not something I know alot about but reading and looking at pictures I am sure I will learn it in like some years

<< <i>That's a nice coin. I'm not very good at grading these; what do you call this, about an XF40? >>
the luster on the coin is nearing AU, but it's a 45. The horizontal stripes on the shield are nearly fused, as struck.
