Autographed Magic Johnson Sports Illustrated Raffle For Good Cause... a huge thanks to MBMiller25

As some of you may remember, on 12/2 I got into a car accident. The insurance company declared the car a total. I am in an upside down loan with my finance company, as I owe more than the car is worth.

After the insurance compact pays the finance company, I will still owe $2000 to them. So right now, I have no car, and I owe the finance company $2,000.

I have been looking at just a transportation car, and I can get one for about $1000. I have sold my entire collection, and I am still about $500 short for paying the finance company and getting a car.

I am the sole provider right now for my family as my girlfriend is going to school. I am borrowing a car, and that will not last that much longer.

i found a car online for $799, it is a 1991 ford in good condition. the guy will take a $100 holding deposit and the balance on Jan 2nd when i get paid again.

I just need to raise the $100, so i this raffle will have 11 openings. the tickets are $10 each, and the money will go to get the car.

Rules

· Each Raffle ticket costs $10 and you buy them with PayPal to
· Raffle will take place when all 11 spots are filled
· Random.org will be use to pick the winner from all paid tickets
· You can buy any amount of tickets. Just make anote of how many you are buying in the comment section of your paypal payment

Any questions, please PM me

a huge thank you to MBMiller25 from my family.. have a great Christmas.

  • I looked into this a little further and found the following:

His ebay ID is cardsbysgc. On Dec 15th, he bought an unsigned Magic Johnson SI in this auction: ebay link

The sellers pic is different but keep in mind the seller has many of these and it's a stock photo. You can look at the sellers other auctions to verify this is a stock photo.

I doubt he got the SI paid for, delivered, and signed in less than a week.

Also, look at cardsbysgc's feedback. He got this negative earlier this year as a seller: BUYERS BEWARE! SAID ITEM WAS HANDSIGNED BY JORDAN BUT WAS NOT. REFUSED REFUND!!!

Also, if he needs money for a car, why did he just buy this Johnny Kling T3 for $152 here: ebay link

Sorry but I think you just bought him a nice T3 instead of a car downpayment. Not to mention I think he tried to rip off the board with a fake Magic Johnson auto.
  • Quoting for posterity sake.

  • To be fair, I won't edit my original post and will say the following:

The T3 he bought is none of my business, so we'll leave it at that.

I was alerted to the fact the cardsforms did in fact go to a Magic Johnson signing and the thread is here: CU thread

So I apologize to cardsforms for thinking the auto wasn't legit.

  • dude, do not even start.. since you like looking into things., email the seller and verify that i paid him extra to send me the magazine priority mail.. i got it on firday and had it signed on Saturday in Northridge.. so a little more research and see that i also got mike Navarros rookie signed for him at the same signing..

    dude.. get a life.
  • oh, and the comment about the T3.. why not mention that i sold it on eBay also?? oh yeah.. because that does not go good with you slamming of me does it..

  • << <i>oh, and the comment about the T3.. why not mention that i sold it on eBay also?? oh yeah.. because that does not go good with you slamming of me does it.. >>

I apologized in the post above. Not sure what else you want.

  • You sign up in two months ago and already need money. Who wouldn't be a bit skeptical, this is the internet friend and money is tight for a lot of folks, scammers are everywhere.
Then you receive a very generous Christmas gift, but instead of calmly explaining you jump on one of the skepticks.

if you make a plea for charity, be prepared to give a full accounting without the attitude.

as the one who questioned the authenticity of the signature stated... all of the proof has been in my CU posts..

i posted when i got in the accident... i posted when i got the signature. everything is here and accounted for.

    Happy Holidays.
  • and blackborder did not question me.. he wrongly tried to "out" me.. like i was scamming.. i have dealt with many people on these boards, and they know what i am about. also, it does not matter that i have only been active on the boards for 2 months.

I did stick my foot in my mouth regarding the MJ auto and should have looked a little further before making those statements.

Also though, in your original post, you were going to give half the proceeds of the raffle to Tim's (erinstubby) family. Since you got the amount needed for your car payment and since RBM let you keep the MJ auto, it would be nice to sell it and PM the money to Gumby for Tim's family.

The original post of this thread (and it's intent it seems) has been edited a few times. First it was a $2 per chance raffle for a copy of SI signed by Magic Johnson that the seller/raffler quoted it's value at about $25, and half the money was going to Tim Mastin's widow, and the other half to himself to help with his own hard times. Then the raffle was aborted and the title of the thread was erased and the OP was changed to "DELETE." Then it was resurrected again with the same raffle idea with no mention of the magazine's approximate $25 value, and Tim's widow and himself once again splitting any monies. Now I see that the "raffles" were changed to $10 each with only 11 being sold, and no mention of Tim's wife as it seems that the OP's needs have increased.

Just catching everyone up to speed, and if I left anything out please let me know.

    sounds about right to me..

but you do not know some facts.. the issue of donating money to Tim's widow is being looked into through a nother venue and i am in contact with another member about this.. details will be posted when they are available.

Second post did not state the value because i had to write itagain, and i was not going by a script. just the facts.. i think everyone knows the value of a signed SI with only a pictureas proof of signing.

i have a feeling that this thread will not die as some members want to have some entertainment on Christmas Eve.. i am going to stop posting on this matter.. if anyone has questions for me.. PM me, and i will gladly answer any questions you have

  • I'm not taking sides, but why does CardsforMS have to give any money to Tim's widow, since it appears that he is in a pretty big bind himself? I believe over $5,000 has been raised for Tim's family, so are a few more dollars from a guy who is struggling going to make that much of a difference? I truly feel aweful for Tim's widow and family, because that is a very tragic event, but I also feel bad for a guy who needs a way to get to work to make a living. I'm sure he can use all the funds he can get at this time as well.

I'm not saying CardsforMS went about this the right way, but some need to just lay off of busting his chops, since he seems to be in a bad situation as well. It's almost Christmas guys. Let's try to get along. image

    Not really.

If someone comes on here saying, if you give me money for my stuff to help me and someone else out and then edits the "someone else" out, that is shady.

<< <i>can someone please explain why I have to donate to MS via >>

You don't have to do anything, Brian wasn't begging/demanding a donation, He was offering up a Signed Magic Johnson SI in hopes of raising some money to use as a down payment on a new vehicle.

I am not sure why anyone feels like this thread needs to be disrailed and taken down another path. It's a shame that we as a society have gotten to the point that when someone needs a little help, we immediately look to the bad in their intentions. We as a community stepped up as board members to raise $5,000+ to help out the widow and children of Tim Mastin, so I know there is alot of good on these boards.

Brian has had a miserable year, He got diagnosed with a nasty disease (MS) had an accident that cost him the only transportation he had to support his family. He needed a little help. He was doing the best he could to figure out a way to solve a problem he had.

Come on guys, Let's remember that it's Christmas Eve and Lay off! If this was one the veteran board members offering up something in hopes of raising some capital to use as a down payment on a new vehicle, it wouldn't have been given a second thought. It just happens to be a new member. Just because he is new doesnt minimize his problem, and certainly shouldn't subject him to the accusations that have been made against him.
