That reporter is a JACK#%%!
I bet he wouldn't have microphone balls like that if he was in a private room with Marinelli. I really thought he was out of line. Asking the "tough" question is one thing.....doing what he did crossed the line of good joournalism...what an idiot!
Talk aboout kicking a man when he is down. Marinelli handled it with class...I wish he would have pulled a Ditka on that reporter!

<< <i>You can't imagine how badly I want that reporter to lose his job. He has consistently been the biggest dirtbag in the Detroit area media scene for years now. If there's any justice in this world, he will be fired (or Rod will get 5 minutes alone with him). >>
I am a Clevelander who loves the Cowboys...so I have no bias at all in regards to Detroit. That reporter infuriated me to the point that I was yelling at the t.v!
Even the Fox guys said that the guy should lose his job..what an idiot!

It was not only what he said, but how he said it. Marinelli looked like a truly beaten man and this a hole is just pressing him. Marinelli kept his cool better than most could. The reporter was asking why the Defensive coordinator hasnt been fired yet...The DC is Marinelli's son in law, so the reporter was badgering him for nepotism...and at the end of the interview the reporter says one last question...So do you think your daughter should have married a better defensive coordinator?
You will have to see the clips...it has abetter effect than reading it.

Thank You Ryan!
Rod came here as a defensive guru expected to make this team formidable on that side of the ball. They have gotten worse since his arrival. Much worse. Detroit has had some bad coaches since I've been watching them (30+ years), but this guy is TERRIBLE. He lacks any understanding of game management. His guys have been getting worse since he's been here. They've friggin' lost like 22 of their last 23. He can't pick a QB to start. They traded up to draft a QB last year in the second round and have already given up on him. There are quite a few players on this team that Rod brought in that were former Bucs players. He claimed they were upgrades and I don't deny that they should have been. But with this many "upgrades", how have you gotten so much worse?
And BTW, I wished his daughter married a better D-coord as well.

Here's another article that was on their site with Marinelli's response:

Marinelli responds angrily to columnist's 'attack'
The Detroit News
Lions coach Rod Marinelli responded angrily Monday to a controversial question posed by Detroit News columnist Rob Parker in Sunday's postgame press conference following a 42-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field.
Parker on Sunday asked Marinelli if he wished his daughter had married a better defensive coordinator, taking a shot at his son-in-law Joe Barry, whom he hired to run the Lions' defense prior to the 2007 season.
Marinelli declined to answer Sunday, but his anger flared a day later as he responded to questions from the media about the incident that has garnered national attention.

"I just think anytime you attack my daughter, I got a problem with that -- in a room of stink, and as a man, and it was premeditated," Marinelli said. "I think there's something wrong with that, yeah."
Asked if he felt Parker's question crossed the line, Marinelli replied, "Big time."
Detroit News Managing Editor Don Nauss said the question about Marinelli's family posed by Parker to the coach Sunday was both inappropriate and unprofessional.
"The News is taking this matter seriously and will deal with it promptly in an appropriate manner," Nauss said.
Marinelli said he hadn't spoken to Parker, nor did he care to, adding that he hadn't read Parker's column in Monday's Detroit News in which he apologized.
"I didn't read it, I was just told a little bit about it, and I don't accept anything," Marinelli said.
He went on to describe the comments made earlier this season by Lions offensive coordinator Jim Colletto when Colletto said he didn't want to "embarrass" backup quarterback Drew Stanton by putting him into a game if he wasn't ready.
"Could he take that remark back? Would you guys let him?" Marinelli asked reporters. "No. You went from our practice field and ran to the locker room and put a microphone in front of the player. And (Colletto) didn't mean it that way, right? ...
"To me, this is worse. Because it was intent to maybe stir me up, which is never gonna happen. I can shoulder anything you bring -- easy. I can shoulder anything you bring."

The same reporter falsely associated a highly regarded MSU freshman football player with a fight between the MSU hockey and football teams earlier this year (the player wasn't even present).
