Elementry football question: distribution of yards on a play

Lets say a team starts off on their 1 yard line. The QB passes to the TE, who catches the ball on the 2 yard line, runs to the 50 yard line, then laterals it over to a WR who runs it the rest of the way for a touchdown.

When the stats are given out.. how much yardage does the QB, TE, and the WR get credit for? Who gets credit for the TD? Does the TE get credit for passing yards as well as recieving yards?

The QB gets credit for all the yards and TD- the TE will get credit to as far as he goes then from there the WR would get the rest of the yards and TD. No TD pass credit for TE.

    Thanks.

So, if the TE laterals from the 50 yard line back to the 48 to the WR, does the TE get credit for yardage to the 50, or to the 48 where the WR caught the lateral? Does the WR get credit for 52 yards or 50?

  • digicat,

That is partly why Troy Aikman was made to look great with Michael Irvin. He could just throw the ball in the air up for grabs, Irvin does all the work, and wham, Troy looks great. Jason Garret looked great doing it for the Cowboys too.

But QB's get all the credit. There should be a movement to remove all non QB's from the HOF since no other player has every 'won' a ring, only the QB has 'won' a ring.
