An Odd 1963 Proof Quarter. Clad???

Found this as I was searching through several hundred proof sets I recently bought.....
Is it even possible that it's a clad?

Looks like edge toning to me.

It looks like 90% silver to me as well.

'63 proof sets were out of production before experimentation with clad
    materials began in '64.

    It shouldn't be possible.

The coloration appears vaguely clad-like but it's probably just toning on
    the edge.

Also note that most cu/ ni clad coins have edges which appear two thirds
copper and one third nickel. Only one side or the other is nickel colored
because the copper core is scraped across the thin cladding in the blanking
    process.

  • So you can sleep tonite, you may want to weigh it........silver = 6.3 gr (96.6 gn)...clad = 5.7 gr (88 gn)...image
