Scully enters Broadcasting Hall of Fame

Just saw on the Dodgers website that Vin Scully is joining Curt Gowdy and several others. I have been so fortunate that I grew up with Vin Scully and still have him. I remember during the 70's and 80's when I would be watching the Dodger games on TV as a kid. When Vin was doing the radio and Jerry or Ross were doing the TV coverage, or maybe TV coverage on a non-Dodger network, my father would mute the TV and we would watch the game, but listen to Vin on the radio. Great memories. I think Vin is one of the few announcers in baseball history who could ever do coverage with no analysts or commentators...Always solo from Vin.

Here is the entire list:
Joining Scully and Gowdy were Marvin Bader (ABC Olympics), Chet Forte (ABC Sports), Teddy Nathanson (director, NBC Sports), Don Ohlmeyer (ABC and NBC), Val Pinchbeck (NFL), Bob Seiderman (CBS and FOX Sports) and Charlie Steinberg (Ampex and Sony). The Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame was formed in 2007 to honor sports TV industry innovators and leaders.

Well deserved. Didn't Scully do the NBC game of the week with Joe Garigiola on Saturday afternoon?
I think they were the top NBC team and Tony Kubek and someone else was second team.
Growing up in the midwest that was the only chance to see baseball on TV during the regular season, the NBC game of the week.

You would be very correct Darin. Vin did NBC baseball with Joe G for most of the 80's. I believe they also did a few world series as well. During the 70's Vin also did NFL and PGA. So I would think many people do recall him.

Click on this link for a video of Vin and NBC saying bye to baseball in 1989 at the end of the NLCS. Brings back memories, NBC linky

Here is another short memory, Linky
