Well of course the Yanks are interested in Teixeira! DUH!

MLB.com reporting it so. Any surprise? Of course not. But it looks like the Yanks may have a strategy with Boras on this one. Sit back and wait to see what all the offers are before making theirs. There is NO WAY Teixeira signs a contract with anyone, including Boston, without listening to what the Yanks are ready to offer. Will we see the Yankees offer him 10 years? Only reason Giambi was a fiasco was because of the whole steroid issue. If they think Teixeira is a fit, you can bet they have no problem giving him 10 years. Heck, they gave a pitcher 7 years!

One thing I dont understand....Angels have offered Teixeira 8 years at 20 mill. Its reported that the Red Sox arent willing to go more than 5 years. But yet, why is everyone saying that the Red Sox are the front runners for Teixeira? Just the attraction of playing for Boston?

Cashman also flew to Texas to meet with Pettitte. Im thinking the Yankees may forget about Derek Lowe. I could see them really making a drive for Ben Sheets on a two year deal. I like the sounds of a starting rotation of Wang, Sabathia, Burnett, Sheets, and Pettitte. Phil Hughes and Aceveda getting a few starts. Joba the bridge to Rivera.

Looks like another rumor that Nady could be traded. I would hate to see that. Damon also only has one year left. Trade him and pay a portion of his salary. I like his average and OBP but there is just no defense with him anymore. I'd rather see Nady stay with his average, power, decent OBP, and a better defensiveman.

Once again, I PLEAD for the Yankees to trade Ian Kennedy!!! PLEASEEEE!!! The guy is a head case and will never be able to pitch in NY.

Remember the secret bid the Red Sox put in for Dice-K ? Kind of blew the Yankees offer out of the water, didn't it ?

But seriously, Texeira will be playing for Boston or NY. Remember all those reports we heard about C.C. wanting to stay close
to home ? Well, in the end, it was all about the money. It will be the same with Mark. It will be all about the money, and Boston
or NY will provide the most.
  • I forgot to add that we all thought Santana was going to Boston or the Yankees, but he ended up somewhere else.
So it is conceivable that Mark end up somewhere else.

I would think the Yankees have a greater need for Mark. We still have Lowell, but I think the Red Sox would
like to have Mark playing first, and Youk at third.

Are you implying that Red Sox have a "secret bid" on Teixeira? The Dice-K situation was supposed to be secret bid so Im not sure where you are going with that.

I agree that Teixeira will probably land in Boston or NY but I wouldnt count the Angels out of it yet. That is a pretty strong offer. Heck, even Nationals have a better offer than the reported Boston offer. The players union will really push for him to take the highest offer with longevity. If Red Sox dont pump up the years on that offer, they wont stand a chance.

OK. I was pointing out that the Red Sox bid strong on Dice-K, and will probably put in another bid for Mark late in the game.
I don't think a smart executive ever puts out his strongest bid first.

Like you said, the Red Sox will pump up their offer if they are interested, and I used Dice-K to show that they will bid strong
when they feel the situation is right. And I believe this is a player they really want. I will be very suprised to see them outbid
by Washington or Baltimore. I won't be suprised if they get outbid by NY.

Maybe the Yankees can make a clean sweep of the top 10 available free agents, and then they can play the NL in the all star game next year!

Dear Dented 1---Did you know that Don Zimmer had a steel plate in his head. I'm not sure why you refer to your self as the dented one but it may well been a Freudian slip.

You remind me of a Flintstone character that went ---" BAMM--BAMM ".

Will you be here tommorrow Brian ?

  • No, because the fraudulent and corrupt mod carol won't have it.

No worries, a sunday afternoon poking fun at the people here who think this is somehow serious is a nice distraction.

Brian , deep down inside there might be something worthwhile in there. Your post are normally corrosive and does not speak well of yourself . I've heard it said " That out of the abundance of the heart , the mouth speaks ."
