In 1947 and 1948 the Philadelphia Eagles won back to back championships. There was no Super Bowl back then. They
called it the NFL championship game. Anyway, it's not interesting that they won back to back championships, but that they
are the only team to ever pitch shutouts in consecutive championship wins.

The Hall of Fame running back for the Eagles on those teams, Steve Van Buren, I used to sit near him at the horse racetrack as he was there almost everyday and I spoke to him numerous times. He is a quiet guy but enjoys a little conversation about college football and we sometimes chatted about Penn State - he doesn't like talking about the pros that much. I haven't been to the track in over 6 years because I quit gambling, but last time I saw Steve, he still looked like he could play football, and I'm almost not kidding. He still looked great - lean and strong, although sadly I've heard that age is finally catching up to him and he's not doing that well as he is close to 90 years old now. Nice guy - I never saw him refuse an autograph request.
