Scanning Cards with Barcode Scanner.....

Does anyone know how to scan the cards barcode to add them to your inventory? I bought the reccomended barcode scanner that PSA said to get, now I can't figure it out. Do you have to have some sort of program where you scan everything and then upload it to the website? Help.

Thanks,

Mike

When you're logged in to my set registry click on the add inventory tab. It mentions barcode scanning there. You can shoot them there or just copy in a column of serial numbers from anyplace else you scanned them in or have them listed like a database or excel. You may need to program you scanner to add an enter or return after a scan or you can just use your keyboard to go to the next line.
  • Ok, am still needing help with this. Is it just that difficult to scan your psa cards onto the website or am I just not doing it correctly. I have a nice scanner that I bought off of ebay, now I am trying to scan the cards into the psa add inventory thing and its not working. I guess I need a program? Every program I have tried to use has been really confusing. All I want to do is scan my PSA cards!!!! Someone help, please!!!

    Thanks,

    Mike

When I was scanning my cards for the registry it was important to name the file like this:

Mickeymantle63topps, not Mickey mantle 63 topps.

also I think the file size has to be 100 kb or less if I am not mistaken.

Try again, maybe that was the problem?

    Good luck.

    Good for you.

If you purchased a barcode reader you don't need any special program. Plug it in and your computer should see new hardware and install the needed driver. Bring up anything you'd normally type into like a new email, or open up a word processor page or spreadsheet. Shooting the barcode with your scanner will be just like typing it in on your keyboard. If nothing happens when you shoot the barcode then it's not programmed to read the type of barcode you're scanning. You'll need to find out what type of barcode it is and consult the manual to program your scanner to read that type of barcode. Ask the person at PSA who told you which scanner to buy what type of barcode format they use.
  • Chapter 12 page 49-53 will be the pages to program your scanner. PSA use Interleaved 2 of 5.

See page 4 Options: If you have a barcode scanner, you can add your inventory by scanning the barcode for each item. The PCGS Set Registry supports the "interleave 2 of 5." The Symbol LS2208 scanners are recommended.http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/files/UserGuide.pdf

PSA registry also uses the same thing. I have this barcode scanner and it works great. It can be found on EBay for $120
