Need advice guys ( possible ebay issue )

Here is the deal- Im selling a card on ebay in which I had put a BIN on it for $399 with a reserve for $375. A potential buyer had contacted me telling me he put a respectful bid on it and the reserve still wasnt met, he asked me if I would tell him the reserve in which I did ( $375 )

After chatting with him he talked me into lowering the reserve to $325 as that was the highest he could go- I agreed and the auction at that point still had several days to go so I thought why not? If someone else wanted to bid I would get more and if not at least I make a $325 sale. Since the reserve has been met there has been no further bids, well today I receive a question from another potential buyer asking what my return policy is- there is no return policy as the item is PSA graded and the description is 100% accurate. This person who asked has been a member since August 2007 with 0% feedback- my dilemma is what if this person puts a bogus bid on it and the origanal person I haggled pricing with sees this and thinks Im shilling the auction?

What should I do? Should I block the potential buyer for his 0% feedback?

Thanks for your input- I realize I should in the future put in my auctions the no return policy.

The auction # is 250338721745 my ebay handle is 101paulp

  • Block him ASAP and my experience with zero fedback people who registered a long time ago is that it's an alt ID. In this case, probably the same guy who wants the card for $325 trying to covertly find out what your return policy is so you don't get gun shy with him.

Paul, I would just block him from bidding. 0 feedback since 2007, asking about your return policy for a graded card? Its not worth losing the sure bid you have. JMHO

I think I would block the 0 bidder Paul. Especially if you can live with the $325.00 sale.

I know everyone has to start at zero but he already is asking about a return policy. It may just end up being a headache.

How do I block him then! I seriously never had an issue so I have no clue how to do it..

    Paul

Go to selling resources on your ebay page. Half way down the left column will be a link to click on. Just follow the directions. It's easy.

Hey Paul, it seems like the guy is already a problem. I would block him and keep it listed. Just think about it...If you mail the card and the guy wants to return it....Hopefully he doesn't mishandle the card, pull a swap, and hopefully he sends it back.

    Good luck to you,

When long registered 0 feedback ebayers ask general questions that don't contain any specific reference to what you're selling, it's often an attempt to get your email address for future phishing attempts.

Go ahead and block him if you like, but chances are he had no intention of bidding.

I always ignore those emails. Often they're asking questions that clearly aren't relevant to the auction (ex: "is this item new in box?").
  • If the guy you spoke with has bid $325, I would end the auction and sell to the highest bidder if you can live with the $325.

What Bill said is what I'd prolly do too.

I would not block a potential customer simply for asking a question!

Remember to use signature confirmation (not delivery confirmation) on your package since the final price is over $250.

    That will be done.

Thanks for your input guys- my gut tells me the guy who I talked pricing with and has the current $325 bid is legit and not playing games- he has 450+ feedback, I dont think he would ask me to lower the reserve and bid on it only to decide he might not want it and cause trouble.

I cant justify letting a 0% feedback guy who has been a member since 8/07 bid on my auctions- it may be the same person but Im willing to bet its not and the transaction will be done with Pay-Pal and like Nick suggested I will be sending it with signature conformation.

Sounds like a plan and this new guy can still bid again on your stuff.

Not like he did anything wrong.
