1951 Wheaties Ted Williams - feeler

I have a 1951 Wheaties Ted Williams psa10 that I'm thinking about selling. Granted its not the toughest Williams card to land, but I figure it would have some appeal to maybe a Williams registry guy, etc...

<a href="http://s454.photobucket.com/albums/qq267/nathanwoods/Ted Williams/?action=view&amp;current=File0001.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq267/nathanwoods/Ted Williams/File0001.jpg" border="0" alt="1951 Wheaties Ted Williams"></a>

I haven't been on the forums that much, but I have dealt with a few of the 86 Topps football guys, primarily Elitecards - Kevin. He's probably the person I've dealt with the most that would be on here. As for the card itself, if someone were interested in it, just let me know. I can be reached at nathan@rainbowtel.com, and I'll be happy to give you my number.

I honestly haven't really thought of a price to ask. Like I said, this is mostly a feeler to see if there is interest in it. Thanks for looking.

That's a nice looking Wheaties card. Someone did a terrific job cutting it. Good luck with it.

Thanks. I agree, whoever cut it did a killer job. I was a little worried about the white specks in the border, but I guess that must be common with these?
  • i gotta ask, whats it worth?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I don't log on to here that often.

As for what its worth? I'm not really for sure. I do know that it doesn't carry near the same weight as what a Bowman or Topps does. I've taken to a couple of my friends, as well as checking for interest at a couple of larger auction houses but since none (other than complete boxes) have sold recently, I never could get a consistent estimate(one guy said $1500, another said at least $5000, and everything else was in between). I may roll the dice and put it in the Memory Lane spring sale, but thats 15% of the cream right off the top, so I would just as soon sell it privately.

I kind of thought maybe one of the Williams master set guys would be interested in it. Only one of the top four sets even has the card and I think it was an 8.

Anyway, I've had a few private emails on the card, but nothing serious as of yet. Again, for the price I'm unsure what to ask. Like I said, I've had price estimates all over the board, but just to put a price tag on it, I would take $2500. Thats less than the median of my appraisals, so at this point I think its fair. My email is nathan@rainbowtel.com, and I'll be happy to give you my number to discuss anything.

Ebay it, start it at .99 and let it rip.

J/K Good luck with the sale.
