Factor for estimating value of .5 grades?

I know this has probably been discussed, but I could not seem to find a thread that did so.

My latest SMR was just before the .5 grading change went into effect. Let's say I am interested in buying a card graded 6.5. I have SMR prices for a 6 and a 7. Do you guys have any kind of a factor that you use to guesstimate the book value of a .5 graded card? Halfway between the two? Some factor? Thanks for your input!

  • Yes this topic has been discussed before and the end result was that there is no real way to determine value unless the card with the .5 grade has a high population of identical cards sold before. It also depends on the card and the year. A more modern rookie with a half point grade usually will not bring any extra money at auction compared to the same card at a half point lower grade or half point higher.
