Romo has convinced me of one thing: He is NOT a big-game QB. He has a world of talent but makes the most horrendous mistakes at the most crucial times, and has consistently saved his worst performances for the biggest games.

I am convinced of one other thing: The Cowboys will never again me a championship team. I'm through. After 38 years as a dedicated fan I am no longer investing my emotions in this team. I'll watch, I'll root for them, but I'm done with all the other crud that goes with it. No more expectations equates to no more anger, frustration, disappointment, and embarrassment. If I have the opportunity on Sundays to do something other than glue myself to the TV for the inevitable roller coaster ride, I will take it.

The Cowboys stink. They can beat the occassional patsy (only occassionally...refer to the Ram game) but can not beat a quality team, especially when a win is needed the most. Eagles fans, Redskins fans, rejoice in the misery of the Dallas nation. That misery is well deserved. Cowboys fans who think there will be a happy ending to this or any other Jerry-Jones-owned season, please stop fooling yourselves.

I likes this Tony Romo - he's becoming one of me favorite players. image
  • Im sorry but i never understood this type of attitude.

Your either a fan or your not . I hate to say it but it's guys like you that give Cowboy fans a label of being bandwagon jumpers

What happens if they if they make it to the Super Bowl next year, all of a sudden your " emotionally involved " again ?

I've been a Cowboys fan for 30+ years also so i remember the bad days of the late 80's and the 1-15 season . Thats what made the Super Bowl run of the 90's so special , how they went from absolutely horrible to SB champs

Can't just sport the gear and religiously watch games when their winning

Your sounding like a Red Sox fan ( Pre 2004 ) image

Im not kidding either- you can take "Cowboys" out above and insert "Red Sox" and it is EXACTLY how Pre 2004 Sox fans felt for the longest time!
  • hey kobefan have you seen the suicide rate in dallas? there all cowboy fans...

    Troy can afford to hock 1 , he's got 2 more !

    BTW, who's your team ?

    My thought exactly.

Being one of the winningest and successful franchises in all of sports will always come with the "Haters". That's to be expected, as most have never experienced that kind of winning tradition with their franchises. The main reason being is because they usually lost to the Cowboys so many times over the years. So it's only natural that the Cowboy hater's get their little licks in when they have the chance.

As for the Steeler game. Yes Very disappointing. But that's what makes the NFL great! While it's true Tony Romo has yet to find the formula
for winning the big games, he's still a top tier QB. Dispite the 5 turnovers the Cowboys still played well enough to win. The Cowboy defense
played a great game. Pittsburgh is a tough road game for any team and even tough we lost the game, Im still a Cowboy faithful. Just disaapointed they let the steelers off the hook after their Defense dominated the game. I think the Cowboys Special teams is where the game was lost. The one big punt return and the punt that hit the Cowboy player that resulted in a fumble is where the game was lost.

It's funny how nobody talks about it as a Steeler win, but a Cowboy lose. If the Steelers are one of the Top teams in the league then I still feel good about the Cowboys as they played on the road well enough to win that game.

    We'll get em next week!
    Go Cowboys!
  • i feel badly for all you cowboy fans who come up with rings and history lessons from old. to make yourselves feel better. well heres fact and not fiction for you..in the last 3 & a half seconds of todays game pitt got the W..............end of story.

I simply refuse to continue to let my happiness be determined by how well the Cowboys play. The pain from a loss is long-lasting while the satisfaction of a victory is all too fleeting. I let my passion for this team cause me to miss out on many far more valuable things in my life, things which can not be regained. That's it for me. I am smart enough to know that as long as Jerry Jones is running the show this team will never be among the NFL elites. They won in the '90's because of Jimmy Johnson. Jones' ego couldn't stand all the attention going to Johnson. He couldn't simply take pride in knowing that he hired Johnson and was thus responsible for the subsequent success. Jones had to have the acknowledgement of the entire sports world. He aliented Johnson, causing Jimmy to leave. Since then, the team has largely been a disaster, sometimes downright embarrassing. The only success they've had since 1994 has been with the Johnson-built team. Jones definitely wants to win; he just doesn't know how to do it.

I'll stack my credentials as a Cowboy fan against anyone's. I'm simply no longer willing let that team cause me ulcers, temper tantrums, obscenity-laced tirades, property destruction, or any other such immature behavior. I will watch them, hope for a win, and say "thank you" if they get one. I will never again entertain expectations of quality play, much less Super Bowls. I am a fan, but I will no longer be a SUCKER.

Jimmy Johnson was one heckuva football coach. He even won with the Dolphins and he had basically "nothing" down there.
  • well theres allways next year..
  • Seen the game. Don't need mrguby to know what happend.
Fact is for as many turnovers and bad penelties as the Cowboys had, they still played well enough to win the game.
For a "Top Team" the Steelers were DOMINATED by that Cowboy Defense. It was dissappointing to see the Special Teams
and Offense let them down in the last minutes of the game.
Its true Romo has struggled when the chips are down, but he will learn and grow. Still not out of it this year and We'll get them next week.
If Not.. Oh well at least we can rest easy knowing were still the top franchise in all of sports.
  • Hey Guby , you still haven't let us know who your team is
  • I have been a Cowboys fan since the third grade-I'm 46 years old so my loyalty goes way back. As frustrating as things have been the past few years they are nothing compared to the mid 80s. We'll be back -we're not too far away-and then it will all seem like a distant memory. To all you detractors-until your team can boast 5 Super Bowl wins & 8 conference Championships your posts sound like the jealous whining of a fan who is frustrated by their team's lack of historical success.

See, that's part of the reason Dallas fans always get a bad name!

  • my team is the pats. and after losing brady i did the next best thing root for the afc.. GO JETS>>>> . but i to like a good game and not being a fan of the steelers i watched that game in hopes of a dallas win. and romo let me down just like the rest of you. in order for my pats to make it each and every year two teams have to play badly the steelers and the colts.not likely the pats will go this year but i would love to see brett take the jets to the bowl...

Are you kidding me? I did NOT know you were a Patriots fan! I was going to defend the Cowboys but since your a Pats fan I will keep quiet image
  • So you lose your QB and you jump ship to the Jets. Sounds like a bandwagon fan to me.
Win, lose or Draw Its Cowboys all the way all the time.
I thought the Pats were playing well enough to contend for a playoff spot? Has that changed?
I don't really care what happens in the AFC so I haven't really kept up with the pats.

To me it looks like they should or at least CAN win the division, however they won yesterday against a weak Seattle team and got lucky.

I love them but also am realistic about their chances of contending.

You sound like a typical (not all, but typical) Cowboys fan. What, the NFL is too big to pay attention to the whole league? Some football 'fan' you are. The whole world revolves around the Cowboys, right?
