It's official, Maddux is done. 2014 HoF induction is next.

First ballot Hall of Famer in 2014


So, depending on what happens before the start of the season, Maddux might be joined by Tom Glavine and John Smoltz on the stage. Wow. Hopefully Atlanta can return to form so the 3 HoFers won't be the only highlight for the year.

If Griffey and Frank Thomas also retire and are in the class of 2014... that's pretty much the best of the 90s right there.

    I am NOT a Braves fan, but those three guys were AWESOME when they were on the same staff. It would serve them, and baseball, very well if they were inducted on the same day.

    I wish Maddux the best and he is certainly a first ballot HOF. Although he spent many years in Atlanta and Chicago, he was always one of my favorites. Glad the Dodgers and Manny were able to get him into one last playoff series.

    the best and most consistent pitcher in the past 20 years.

    Also i think thomas and griffey will play at least one more season.

    smoltz will try again to pitch this year as well.

    I am waiting to see his press conference Monday just to seehis response when a reporter asks him what team hat he will wear into the HOF.

    I hated see Maddux in the pen. Torre did well to not bring him into the fire...go out with some dignity. All three should be in the hall...Maddux first ballot

    I don't think it is the players choice on what hat they wear any more.

    The HOF stopped allowing that after Winfield or Boggs got paid to wear a certain cap.

    They (The HOF) decide what cap a player goes in with now.

    Very true. Torre made it clear in the final month he would approach every game as the final shot or game of the year. That's why you didn't see their normal closer too.
