I'm stupid. Please help. Someone paid me (via Paypal) with Canadian dollars.

I just sold a bunch of vintage hockey. I just got one payment and they paid with the Canadian dollar. Paypal wants me to either "accept" or "deny" the payment. Could someone explain the advantage or disadvantage? Does it matter? If I hit accept, will it convert it to American dollars? I'm stupid. Help.

The payment was for $76.56 (Canadian). I used the currency converter and it converted it to $60.30 (US). The payment should have been for $63.28 (US).

A few months ago that would have been a good deal. Today, a Canadian dollar is worth around 3/4 of one US dollar.

I thought Paypal automatically converts to US dollars?

Change your Paypal Payment Receiving Preferences to block foreign currencies. This will prevent a future problem.

You can choose and change your Payment Receiving Preferences for your Business or Premier account from your Profile.

    1. Log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/.
    2. Click the My Account tab.
    3. Click the Profile subtab.
    4. Click the Payment Receiving Preferences link in the Selling Preferences column.
    5. Edit your preferences.
    6. Click Save.
    7. Your Payment Receiving Preferences have been successfully changed.

Then DENY the payment you received, send a new one with an explanation to the buyer.

    That should do it image

Thanks for the instructions. That helped. I just finished doing that.
