Lions get TV blackout for the fourth time this season

Not even close at the deadline - 7,000 tickets still available for the game against the Vikings.

Its a deadly combination of the worse team in football in the most economically depressed region in the country with an NFL franchise.

That's basically what the Rays had to do before last season. They wouldn't sell them for a buck, but they would often hand out a few thousand tickets to local organizations to help bump up attendance. My sister teaches in Tampa and they used to hand out ticket coupons almost every other week for Rays games that promoted gimics like "buy 1 get 1 free" for all area students, but that all stopped this year.

The Oakland A's have to do stuff like that too. Dollar tickets, dollar dogs, dollar sodas . . . but still $10 beers. image
