Is my 1914-D penny real.

I would really appreciate some feedback on this 1914-D.
How can I tell if its real of a fake ?

Looks like a counterfeit to these old eyes. Something about the date just isn't right.

What are the diagnostics for a 14-D? Do you think the mintmark is real but the date is faked?

If you see the VDB on the shoulder it's an altered date.

The inside of the D should be almost triangular on a real 1914-d.

Look close at the space between 9-1-4 compared to other 1914 cents, often they alter ones like 1944-D to be 1914-D but the date will be spaced wrong.

There are modern replicas, if you post a big close up of the date and D people can tell you more.

From the pic it looks questionable but can't say without a close up.

I'd have to see a close up of the date and MM. The LIBERTY looks proper... slightly whonky T. The D could be right, but its way too small to know for sure. Spacing on the date looks right too.

As Elaine said, "Fake, Fake, Fake,...Fake."

Look at the 14-Ds on Heritage's Auction Archives and you will see the 14 and the rims are all wrong. It looks fake!
