Weis gets another year at Notre Dame

According to a report on ESPN.

You can be sure that another 6-6 record and trip to a third rate bowl game is not going to be acceptable next year.

The heat is on.

I was surprised to see Weiss brought back. He might be a great coach, but if you don't have the talent, you ain't gonna win games. I suspect Notre Dame will dump him next year after yet another dismal season.

OTOH, Nick Saban of Alabama (the coach many, many hate), will get his bell rung this Saturday night here in Atlanta as Mr. Tebow and company knock the Tide out of their current #1 ranking. Did anyone happen to see Saban's livid display towards one of his linemen after a miscue in the Auburn game? This while Alabama was up 31-0 in the 4th qtr. Given the score, I think Saban would have been more wise to have saved his anger and trashing of his player for a locker room discussion, not on National TV. Mr. Saban should realize these are just college kids, many still in their teens. His job is to motivate, not crucify. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in the Alabama locker room after Saturday night's loss. But, then again, it's remotely possible they could win, not likely though as Tebow is nothing short of an absolutely brilliant quarterback.

The SEC championship game this Saturday night, a game NOT to be missed!! Florida - Alabama
  • Saban does not exactly have a charming personality that is for sure, when he was at Michigan State I don't think I saw him smile
even once in local sports reports, interviews etc. it seemed like he was always bothered about something.

The worse thing I saw from him was I believe in his last season here when the Spartans were playing Oregon and were getting
blown out in the first quarter and Saban was just screaming at the team along the sideline, you couldn't tell what he was
saying but the Spartan players were not even looking at him, just staring at the ground while he was ranting. I felt sorry
for them having to take that kind of abuse. I would not have blamed any of the players if they had stood up and said "I quit"
and head for the locker room.

Notre Dame always has top ten recruiting classes. Maybe Pear Bryant is not a good head coach. What happened happened ito his statement that N.D. would outscheme his opponents? Saban and the Pear are both jerks, but at least Saban can coach.

I suspect Florida will win the SEC, as it has more talent, but Alabama has a shot if it can shorten the game with ball control, and avoid mistakes. Alabama has by far the best defense Florida will face in the regular season. Of course, Alabama has not faced an offense like Florida's.
