1996 Topps Mantle Refractors Set Question

Does anyone know why the 1996 Topps Mantle Finest Refractor (or regular Finest) set only list cards 1-19 in the set registry. It lacks the 1952 Bowman which is card #20. I thought perhaps they only listed one Mantle card for each year but if the set is to contain each regular issued Mantle (no all-stars, multi-player cards, world series or other special cards) than why would it not have the 1952 Bowman listed in the set?

    It think #20 is actually the 97 finest id have to go dig but I think thats correct

    I thought that also but the back of the card says "Mickey Mantle Commerative Card #20 1996 The Topps Company, Inc. The PSA label also says "1996 Bowman Mantle #20....1952 Reprint - Refractor".

    dunno just dug through mine or atleast whats within reach i see all kinds. I see what your talkin about found some with 96's with 20 on up maybe its third series packs? I though only the refractors came in the 2cnd.

    also saw a # in the 40's with 97


    Isnt card #1 51 bowman and #2 52 topps. I have them all on up just not in one spot.

    Do you collect them any dups for trade, just wonderin.

    No dubs. Just have about 12 of them graded 9 and thought about putting on the registry.

    I think they saved the 1952 Bowman reprint/Finest/Refractor as a special insert in Bowman products. Cards 1-19 (the "regular" Mantles) were in 1996 Topps. Cards 21-36 (the subset Mantles) were in 1997 Topps.

    I currently have the regular Finest sets of both Mantle sets and Mays. All I need now is Clemente/Ryan/Aaron. image

    As I am sure some of you know, Walmart has a 10 pack of 2008 Topps packs that comes with a refractor of the 1952 Topps Mantle RC. In case you guys are curious is it numbered "MMR-52" and it is dated 2008.
