Jimmie Hall TTM

I had to share this story with everyone.
Many years ago I decided to start an impossible collection to get autographed 8x10 photos of the entire 1969 Chicago Cubs team. Forty-one players took the field during that year. I have actually been able to acquire 35 of them through card shows and reputable dealers. That left six to go.
Four of the six were deceased. Hank Aguirre, Joe Decker and Dick Selma have proven tough to find in Cubs uniforms. I'm still looking for them. Randy Bobb died in 1972 so he is the Holy Grail for me.
That left two players; Archie Reynolds and Jimmie Hall. I actually talked with Archie Reynolds on the phone and sent him a photo to sign. Unfortunately he still hasn't reurned it two years later. He did sign an index card and returned that. But still no photo. I probably should call him again and try.
That left Jimmie Hall. I had always heard stories that he had been jaded by the whole fame and autograph thing so he wasn't interested in signing autographs. Nevertheless I mailed him an 8x10 with a SASE.
Today...TWO YEARS later, I get a package in the mail and it's my Jimmie Hall photo signed by him in ball point pen.
I couldn't care less that it took that long. I finally got the photo and I couldn't be happier. It made a great end to a crappy day at work.
35 players down....five to go!
