Opinions on two Lincoln cents please

Sorry about the poor image, the close up doesnt show the detail all that well. Thought it was abraded die, but have never seen the abraded image being larger than the digit. Also the four has a similar underlining image.





Is this machine doubling? Have not seen a machine doubling so faroff from the lettering.

What you are seeing is the result of die abrasion like you suspected.
