The Volunteeers that is, not the Titans.

A formal announcement will be made next week as the final details of the contract are still being worked out.

  • Personally I didn't like to see Fulmer get the boot. But of all the names mentioned for the position (Mike Leach, Brian Kelley, Butch Davis) I think Kiffin might be the best choice. He should be a good recruiter (USC and NFL ties), has been in tough situations before (Oakland), and hopefully will be able to get his dad to come on as Defensive coordintator or at least assemble a top notch staff (NFL ties again). I don't know how he will do in the SEC, if he fails miserably the carousel will begin, and fans will be wishing they had Fulmer again. If he's successful, great, but I doubt he will hang around very long.

  • They made a good pick, but I don't know if they really needed to get rid of Fulmer.
  • He is going into a very difficult situation being that Tennessee is part of what is probably the toughest football conference in the country.
Keeping the critics at bay while rebuilding a program will be a challenge.

given the fact that he will have to play against Nick Saban each year, I must say that I do not envy him.
