What is the usual strike on a 1877 Indian?

Weak? Average?

I'm not a copper expert but one of the diagnostics for the 1877 cent is a weak N in CENT so I would guess they are not well struck.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Typical strike on them. The weak N in ONE is not caused by low pressure, but probably improper punching of the number on the reverse.

The weak N is from pre-1870 reverse dies. It was made that way to push the metal into the obverse die.

The S1 die pair is weak on the right on both sides due to skewed dies.

The S2 die pair is usually very well struck - full feather tips and diamonds.
