1911 Lincoln as change

I had to actually go out into the mass of crowds today to pick up a birthday gift for a party today. I paid the cashier and my change was $1.11 but he never gave me it and I did not realize it until about 20 mins. later. So I walk back in and was given a 1911 Lincoln, which is well worn but still pretty cool considering it's been in circulation for 97 years. Even more cool is that if she had not forgot to give me my change, someone else would have gotten it.

Brother, I seriously doubt that coin has spent the last 97 years in circulation. My guess it was last in daddy's jar or collection. image

I just got a 1911 recently...My mom handed me a ziplock back filled with assorted metal bits, including coins, pins, jewelry, and who knows what else, and it was in there. Along with about 6 BiCentennial quarters and two early 70s half dollars, there was a 1911 cent in there. It's not too bad, worn well (the grooves are gone on the wheat) and would have been a primo find-had it not gotten wet at some point and has a big green area covering almost the entire field to the right of Lincoln, over the date. image Eventually it'll end up in my bank that's filled with about 500 wheat cents when I find a non-scuzzy one!
