I think you're going to love the D40, I've had mine for several months now. It'll do most, if not all, of what you want. I too have just purchased a macro lens (Sigma 105). Still on route. Maybe we can help one another learn to handle those lenses over the next few months.

If your previous posts are any indication, you will be an imaging "god".

You will have to use this lens in manual mode to focus and use the aperture ring to set aperture.

There is no camera metering either, you have to use past experience or trial and error to get correct exposure.

Other than that it's a great lens that I use on my D40x.

Just got an email through eBay from the seller of the D40. Camera was damaged in shipment from manufacturer. Yeah right, not in stock. 18 Feedback seller wanted my email for a refund. Duh, go to PayPal details for refund. Think this deserves a Negative.

I wouldn't neg. It occasionally happens to me when I'm juggling 150+ listings and sell one more of something than I have. But I always offer to fill the order if they'll wait. He should be able to get another one. --Jerry

at least he didn't send a damaged one, that would be a lot worse.

of course the story may not be true.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but the 40 is getting a little old see if he can get a 60 for you.
BTW I have the same setup and would like to upgrade to the D60 and 105 auto lens. But my money went off to the mint for some liberties.

Decided to go with the D60 for less than a $100 more. Used MS Live @ 30% off also. image
