SMS guys: My dad has a 1967. Are they valued more in the original holder or slabbed?

Hey guys. I looked in my dad's safe at our coin collection we started when I was a teen. I noticed he has a 1967 Special Mint Set. The coins look great except for a brown spot on the Lincoln. Of course the copper went bad in that crappy, moist safe...
Anyway, he is prolly' going to sell off some of his coins and my question was, should I leave the set whole or go ahead and send 'em into NGC or PCGS for individual grading? I realize pics would help here, but I cannot get any at the moment.
With 30 bucks a pop for slabbing and whatnot, it almost seems like it is not worth it except maybe for the more sought after Kennedy half. (I looked on heritage's auction archive and got rough price ranges for high-end examples.)
Anyway, I know NOTHING about these sets, so any help would be appreciated!

You know a lot more than you give yourself credit for. You pretty much answered your own question quite nicely.
<< <i>Unless they are cameo coins, sell the set as a set. IF they aren't CAMs or DCAMs they are not worth getting graded. Greysheet is like $10 for that set! >>
I would add - If you have a good eye for identifying high grade coins slab them.
The lincoln obviously is not so sell as a set.
Took me a long long time to assemble this set as most ALL OGP sets usually have a dog in them.
If you like this year set - HIGH grade coins already graded can be found ...
1967 1C MS 68 RD
1967 5C MS 69
1967 10C MS 69 CA
1967 25C MS 69
1967 50C MS 68 CA

Save your money on getting these graded.

BTW, how the heck do you tell cam from dcam etc? High-end proofs are NOT my speciality!
The SMS sets are just what they say they are ..Mint sets. They were NOT minted as Proof coins. They were struck only once and minted in San Fransico without a mint mark.....

Unless you see frost on the devices and mirrors in the fields (like my icon) you don't have cameos. Cameos are tough for 1967.
