Musak is so full of CRAP!
Whats so special about this is that you get the En-ti-re Collection fo only $49.95. Thats all 4 coins in Sil-u-ver! (Which gives each coin a melt value of $3.24) Woo Hoo! Great investment!
If you happen to be an idiot!
Hopefully his buyers don;t check eBay! eBay eBay eBay
And hopefully he will be selling these for a long long time meaning that nobody falls for his carnival sideshow, matter-of-fact, in your face, what are you an idiot?, medicine man hype!
The name is LEE!
From HSN's quarterly report:
HSN gross profit margins were 33.0% and 34.7% for the quarters ended September 30, 2008 and 2007, respectively. The decline in the gross profit margins was primarily the result of the product mix shift, increased promotional activity in jewelry and fashion and increased shipping and handling costs due to the product mix shift and higher fuel costs.
Since then, I've seen these concept dollars typically sell for $50 or more PER COIN on eBay. So those were a pretty good deal.
I agree with Frankcoins. Everything on TV is going to have a huge mark-up. And everything on TV, not just coins, is a sales pitch. If you want to see HUGE markups, just look at the jewelry industry. The difference between retail and wholesale is often 10 to 1.
You've probably seen those "gold kit" commercials and the like on TV (they advertise to buy your scrap gold jewelry for cash via the mail). I heard they pay about 30% of melt. Not such a good deal if true. All that TV advertising is expensive.
And if there is anything that we should realy be furious about right now, it is the raping of this country by Wall Street and the Federal Reserve. "Expensive" TV coins pale in comparison.
PS
After the show, Meezak took some of us out to dinner at his favorite Tampa-area steakhouse. After dinner we had some wine. I'm not a wine afficianado in the slightest. But this stuff was good. I asked what it was. 1863 Le Mole Bola or something like that. The waiter said it was bottled in France during the Battle of Antietam.
