PSA/DNA fails?

Do any of you guys ever got an autograph that you know it's authentic (from in-person signing) but PSA/DNA claims that it's fake?

    Yes too.
  • Yes. I have a Joe DiMaggio autograph on his restaurant placemat that I got when I was a kid back in the 70's (I was visiting relatives in the Bay area). I remember getting it with my mom at his restaurant. He had one of those 70's style, multi-colored jackets on and I specifically remember him having a neck brace on. We walked up to him as he was leaving and he autographed his placemat (inscribed To Brian, Joe DiMaggio). Some of the auto got ruined during a flood, but you can still make it completly out, so I just wanted some way of protecting it by getting it slabbed authentic. Well, around the year 2000 or so, I sent it in for slabbage and it came back questionable (I believe that was the terminology used). WTF? I got the auto my self (along with about 10 other people that day). I'll try to dig it up and post it.

  • So what can you do when that happened? I mean ... perhaps JSA or GAI can do a better job?

  • How about re-submitting hoping that some other "expert" this time will get it right?

  • I had a Babe Ruth ball I got signed in person at a card show in 1995 that PSA said was fake.

I also had it happen, but I would rather PSA err on the side of caution. Since I watched them sign the cards, I know they're legit, and I just wanted them slabbed for protection.

I was at the same show, but I waited in the Lou Gehrig line...that ball got shot down as well..It now sits on the fireplace mantle next to my original Mona Lisa painting I found at a garage sale last week..
  • Just to set the record straight on some historical facts.

We don't have a holder big enough to encapsulate a place mat, then or now. We didn't start encapsulating autographed pieces until 2003.

Have a Big Mac ball I got signed in person, late 80's or early 90's.

Decided to send it in back during the big home run chase when his sigs were selling for a ton.

Came back with the ? auth. letter.

    Booooo.

Missed making a little cash on that one.
