What electronic coin scale to purchase for weighing gold and silver coins

I saw a lot of them on ebay for around $25.

Since the weight of many light and darkside coins are published, it is good to confirm raw purchases with a scale. It helps confirm authenticity.

What suggestions do you guys have of a reliable and accurate scale?

I use an Acculab Model 333, and have so for many years. There's so many to choose, you can't go too wrong. For the fun, try an old balance beam. With the proper wieghts, they're a hoot. Mike

    I use a ProScale LC-50. Capacity is 50gx0.01g.
    Very cheap on the bay...

I use a slightly older model of this one (mine is the same but has a 50g max capacity rather than 100g).

No problems and easy to use.

make sure it comes with something you can check the calibration with

if not you can always use someting of known weight

The larger spot is for sovereigns, the smaller for half sovs. It checks weight, diameter and thickness.

Not electronic but fun...once I ran my (very) small hoard of sovs through it and they all checked out--whew!!

    Another tip -

Whenever you tare, or calibrate, the scale with the weight, make sure the scale is on a hard surface. If you're on a soft surface, even if it's a magazine on a hard surface, the scale will "give" when you press tare and screw up your calibration.

I got a DuraScale and have been very happy with it.

Thank you for all the feedback! I did some searching and ended up with a scale I liked.
