In general, how is the economic downturn affecting the world coin market?

Just curious... I have my eye on some pieces in some coming world coin auctions.

I haven't noticed much difference in what I collect from the US and Canadian Auction Houses. Will be interested in seeing how the UK, Aussie, and Swiss auctions go in the next 3 weeks.

I sure haven't seen much discounting either with US or UK dealers.

The "hot" countries are all lower, in most cases sharply so. The rest haven't dropped much, if at all.

On eBay at least, bids on Conder tokens seem to be a bit softer the last 2 weeks.

Won one yesterday when I put in a lowish bid on a scarce Irish token 1-2 hours before the the auction closed, assuming I would be overbid. When I got back home later in the afternoon I found that I had won the token for about 1/2 of my max bid. image
