  • you should put that John Barrymore next to a card of Drew Barrymore from a modern set - E.T. or Charlie's Angels ?
  • How does that Barrymore get to be a 10 when there is a dent on the left side 2/3's of the way up and discoloring onthe right border?

Paid a little over $8 for the PSA 10 Monte Blue, but paid $34 for the Barrymore. Hoping, when I receive the Barrymore, it proves to be better looking than the ebay scan?

    One can hope!

192 of these 1926 W512 "hand cuts" have been graded by PSA, with only three PSA 10s (I now own 2 of them!)...

(and out of 37 PSA 9s, I own 15 of them!)...

I'm confident I can always sell it, if it turns out to be an ugly Barrymore! image

P.S. I'll post a better scan here, when I receive the item! Wish I had a 1926 W512 #6 Babe Ruth in PSA 10? (I'd even take an ugly one! image)

Below is a scan of the Barrymore card.

    1. There are no "dents, on the side" or anywhere else on this gem.

    2. There is no "discoloring on any borders", as what looks like "discoloration" in the scan, are just "border ink lines" (plus an 82+ year paper toning process, see below) that were on the uncut sheets. (see the uncut sheet example below).

I can say, with a great deal of certainty, that PSA was "right on" in grading this card PSA 10! The edges, corners are all razor sharp. A very professional "hand cut job" was performed. The surface is nicely toned, and any flecks, spots etc. are part of the "paperboard" (i.e., cardboard), that was used by the 1926 manufacturer/printer, and in my opinion, this "aged look", adds to the beauty of this item. (If you think I don't like toning, just look at my "purple-toned" Jefferson Nickel above! LOL!)...

Yes this card rates a 10!

    Good job PSA! image
