PCGS replaces 'Body Bag' practice with "Ungraded Genuine' PCGS holder

I don't know if this is old news or not (on this forum), but Coin World reports today that PCGS is replacing its practice of returning damaged or otherwise ungradable submissions in plastic flips (aka 'Body Bags') -- instead holdering the coin in an ungraded PCGS holder labled as "Genuine" (provided it is genuine). You can opt out of this new practice -- but holdering ungraded coins in 'Genuine' holders will be the new default solution. The article said that the main reasons for this change: 1) the Counterfeiting problem and 2) customer complaints of paying grading fees and getting nothing for it. Many damaged or cleaned coins are valuable and belong in a holder that identifies them as genuine.

So - starting in December - the Body Bag days look to be over. I guess -- now, instead of a 'Body Bag' -- coins ungraded will get returned in 'Genuine Coffins'.image
