Check this out....more ebay seller nonsense

Check this ebay auction out. I contacted the seller about the toning, asking if they were, indeed, AT'ed by him, or (playing stupid, which can come naturally, at times) if they actually came from a bag or roll he purchased (knowing full well he would be lying if he gave any answer other than AT'ing them).

Here is the sellers reply (not knowing how you people take 'snapshots' of pages, I'm posting it, the complete answer, verbatim, in Italics).

they are new and from the roll the $10 roll that i got had 26 toned coins in it and i thought the samething that you do so i started looking up to see why new coins would come like that and as it turns out when the dies that stamp the coins start to wear out they get hot and that heat changes the color of the metal. thank you for asking and have a nice day

All I could think of, immediately after reading his response was, WTF!!!

At least he was friendly about it.
I'll come up with something, eventually.

Heat does change the color of the coin.image
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

This one is most likely baking pan in oven

I believe it was "MrSpud" who did a modern nickel experiment that turned out similar in looks.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

My wife saw a few pics of the Monster toned Morgans, so I was going to AT a Morgan and put it in a bezel for her.

Tried corn oil and motor oil blend at 350 degrees on a 1921 Morgan and got nothing but a mess.

Also, don't try to bake it with WD40 in the house. image
