my latest pick up, 1968 topps nolan ryan rookie!

ever since i was a kid (before all the new junk came into the market with overproduced autos, rookies, and game used) i used to go to local card shows (mall or fair) and feel as though im in a sports card museum, with all the high end rookies and cards from the 50's and 60's. i loved seeing them, and the nolan ryan rookie was one of them, but i knew i would never get one because i cant afford it. then for the last month all i read was about the nolan ryan rookie all over this forum, people buying them and getting it signed or just getting one, and with that i had to purchase one, but one of the low end quality so that i can afford it, after looking for a couple of weeks, the low end ones were going for about $100 to $150 (psa 1). i was almost ready to buy it when i found this card:

it might not be the best looking, but it beats having a reprint, atleast now i own a 1968 topps nolan ryan rookie, probably the best buy i have ever had, $23 for a nolan ryan rookie card.

Well, at least at one time it would have graded a 9 or 10, right? image

  • there was a nolan ryan rookie cut and trimmed card that sold for $36:

and there's one nolan ryan rookie card with hole punch for $100 on ebay right now:

for a guy like me who can't afford high end cards but want them, these would be the best alternatives right now instead of reprints.

That Ryan rookie has more history than a PSA 9 Ryan rookie.
  • Jeez, I can't believe what that card is going for. Who has the money for those higher-end ones?!

I realize you jest....but that's another reason it's a heckuva card - Koosman was a dam good pitcher, and by himself would have still been a nice rookie card.
