One of the more common date half dimes to be sure but I was struck by the look of it. I supposed it’s a problem coin with that moved metal on the “M” obverse and a little scratch or two but it will look swell in my grandson’s type set if he picks it out when we visit next.
What say you?

Paid $35.00. Too much? Shoulda saved my chump change?
I picked it up at The Everett Coin Club’s 46th annual coin show yesterday. The hall it was in was packed pretty tightly but since it was my first visit to this show I can't report on attendance up/down etc.
Ran into Bochiman and had a chance to look at his toned ASE collection. Pics don’t do those bad boys justice. I expect to see a bidding frenzy when the dupes are auctioned off. One word of advice Ron, send them off to Mark to immortalize. It's too late for Trueviews but they really deserve a professional's touch.
I'm always learning.
This show's main lesson: I've read here on the boards how early copper guys have their own standard of grading and that it doesn't necessarily coincide with TPG standards. This was made clear to me when Bochi showed a really cool 1818 cent he picked up from rhedden on the bst to a few early copper guys.
The coin is holdered PCGS AU58BN and one of the copper guys thought it might make 45. Am I generalizing too much by attributing this spread in grade to a different standard?
One thing that struck me about a show with a large mix of collectors was the lack of buzz about gold prices, bullion etc. Refreshing.
Definitely lots of collectors pouring through each other's collection.
I'll be back.

EAC grading standards (for grading early copper) are very, very strict. Eye appeal is a very important factor when grading a particular coin along with any scratches that will downgrade a coin immediately. Not my grading system, but some people seem to like it.
