Too many red flags here?

My father in law won this auction, I'm telling him not to pay for it. Does anybody disagree?

Bill Russell Rookie card

The red flags for me are -

new seller signed up on ebay 3 weeks ago
no picture in auction
no picture available after email
no paypal even though auction says paypal
no returns accepted
seller has an 8.5 jordan rc ending this afternoon and a shill bidder brought it from 50 bucks to 200 in a matter of a few minutes, $10 at a time
email and ebay message provided 2 different payment name and address

Did I miss anything, and is there anybody who would consider sending payment?

I asked today if local pickup would be ok, no response yet

That much money for an unseen card? I would file a dispute with Ebay for the shill bidder and take my chances on getting a neg. The paypal thing just doesn't add up either.

    I would NOT pay; it's a scam.

    Hells no.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

More like "Hey Dad How do I get back on the right track?" For SNL aficionados, this is Matt Foley the motivational speaker. He lives in a van down by the river. One of my favorite sketches of all time.

I would tell you father in law to buy a book about ebay scams with some of the money he will save on the Russell.

In answer to the original question...NOOOOOO....I wouldnt send this guy $5 for the card

It depends on how well you like your father-in-law, If it were mine I would encourage frequent bidding.

The biggest red flag to me is the simple fact the seller does not state which Bill Russell he
    is selling.

The Basketball player? The baseball Player?

People bidding assume it is the basketball player I would think by the ending price.

3 people bid more the 350.00 for a card they have no idea about.

I think people feel safe bidding if they have paypal and can use a credit card. Maybe a little false security.

Anyway the seller doesn't want local pickup, but

hello there the reason for the paypal logo on my auction is because in order to even list on ebay you need to accept paypal its strange but my jordan rookie bgs 8.5 and the lion king dvd set got cancelled because i listed no paypal anyways i need to fix my truck asap the transmission blew 2 days ago i need money fast the jordan was at 250.00 with 2 hours left before it got canceled you can have it for 225.00 if you want i really need fast cash i need a post office money order or bank check if you could overnight it i would ship both cards free of delivery with tracking and insurance as well all on my cost your call otherwise i need to relist 1 day auction tonight get back thanks william.

He clearly states it is a 1947 Bill Russell Topps Basketball card. Obviously nothing to worry about.image

The seller relisted the jordan with no pic or cert number and in a 1 day auction caught a buyer for $426. Hopefully the high bidder is smart enough not to send a money order. The seller still uses the paypal logo but no paypal.

He can't meet me for cash anytime today thru thursday because he's working all day and all nite as a bartender so he might have to relist the card in a 1 day auction.

At least I kept my father in law from a $500 loss. Thanks for your opinions and advice!

I asked for the certification # but as you might expect, no response.
