Former WV coach finally gets a big win for Michigan

Beilein and Co. finally get a big win as Michigans basketball team beats #4 UCLA. Michigan played some tough D, so I was happy to see that. UCLA will end up being a better team than Michigan at the end of the year as most speculate, simply because they're young. But to finally beat a top ten team has to be a lift for Michigan and their program.

Tonight they'll probably get spanked against Duke, but hopefully they put in a good showing and they play Duke again in like 9 days as part of their regular schedule. I hope the program is finally on the rise, but time will tell.

As for Rodriguez and the football team, they'll likely get their a$$e$ handed to them yet again so I suspect only one former WV coach who now coaches for Michigan will be collecting a big win this week.

I guess that is considered a big win for Michigan, but I can say as a UCLA fan it is a very typical loss in the early part of the season. Especially this year with a very young and inexperienced team. But everything I read says the Bruins Freshman players have some big upside and probably some of the most talent they have recruited in some time. Also, I feel they were probably slightly over favored early in the ratings based on last year, but I do feel at seasons end they will truly be a top 5 team, I hope. GO Bruins!

I believe so, although I haven't been around campus or to any games for about 6-7 years as I live much further north now.

As I mentioned, I knew UCLA was young and they would most likely be a better team than Michigan by the end of the season. Michigan has not beaten a decent team in years, but they have finally begun to get some decent recruits and their program is hopefully turning around. I still expect they're a year or two away from really competing in the Big 10, but I hope a NCAA tourney berth is finally in the cards for them this year. That, along with other possible solid wins will help their recruiting even more.
