1955 Topps Koufax RC PSA 9

I was really tempted to bid on this, but had to hold back as this seller doesn't appear to have sold any high end cards before.

That being said, if the card really is in his possession, and he actually ships it, the winner got one heck of a deal!

Not the nicest PSA 9 I've ever seen, but I would sure love to own that card! I can't remember the last time a 9 came up on eBay!

Tell the seller you are a serious buyer of high grade cards and you need to see a larger image of front and back, and maybe even have him put his ebay seller id on a background. If he says he can't it's his loss. If he's an honest seller he will make the extra efforts.

EDIT: I didn't notice the auction was over.

I very seriously doubt this auction was legit. The Koufax image definitely has the appearance of a second generation "lifted" scan. The Jim Brown rookie he sold is likely bogus too.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • I was interested also in how this auction was going to end. All the other Koufax's PSA 9's were sold by major auction houses back in 2007 and before. Also the last one sold for $21,429.70. I agree if this is a legitimate auction the buyer got a very good deal.

I reported the auction as being a fraud the first day I saw it. No way it is legit.

I wonder what happened to this auction, feedback never left.

    Good for you.
  • I too was curious what happen too. I know that VCP didn't pick up the transaction in their Koufax stats.

  • We choose to ignore this auction due to the seller having minimal feedback. Whenever we see a very high end card up for auction we check to see if the seller is legitimate.

Bobby are you saying that you know as fact that this sale never went through?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • I do not know for a fact but willing to make a good sized bet it failed because of the seller. We don't ignore many auctions in the grand scheme of things. A good indicator is when a person is selling a PSA 8 52' Mantle with 10 feedback and they where all from buying spark plugs and other car accessories for a couple of bucks.

This seller lives 20 minutes from my house. I wonder if he would let me pick it up? image
