Baseball Card Insurance

Guys, I have two questions: A. Does anyone insure their card collection through one of the many collector's insurance companies out there? Its very expensive to to add a rider to my homeowners policy that will properly insure my collection. B. For those that do insure their collections, at what value did you insure it? I don't have anywhere near the collection that some of the board members have, but its creeping into the 35-40K range, and I wouldnt want to be out that if some unforseen circumstance caused me to lose my collection. I appreciate the feedback and hearing what the others have to add.

I do insure the collection. Have done so for 4 years now. Just call one of the carriers that advertise in SCD. I think mine is Cornell and Finklestein or something like that...it is insured thru Travelers. i pay about $500 for $50,000 in coverage

    Thanks very much!
  • My collection is an add on of my homeowner's insurance policy. They offer x amount of coverage for x amount of $ and I pay a few extra $ per month.

I use these guys too. Very reasonable, and from the research I've done, people have had good experiences filing claims.

I use them too,I think it's 200 a yr. for $30,000.I had a friend that had to file from his flea-market booth robbery,
took very little time and no hassle to get his $ back. The best part is you don't have to list indivdual items unless
    more than $5000.00.Hope this helps.

  • I have it added as a Collectibles Policy to my Homeowners through State Farm. It is $1 for every $100 of coverage, or $100/$10,000.

We have tenant's insurance for our apartment but I'm not sure if it goes far enough. Especially with all the 1970s graded cards and rare 1990s parallel insert sets I seem to be slowly but surely building up.
