You have got to be kidding me ? 1960 #350 Mantle PSA 9

Look at the lower right to left centering on this baby. I don't think it gets an "8" today. T/B doesn't look too great either. Somebody paid 5K for this card on a Mile High auction in October. Remember buy the holder and not the card ! chaz

I know it's an old flip that is why I said it probably wouldn't get the 8 by today's PSA standards. chaz
Some of my best purchases were 'old flips'
Steve
<< <i>PSA was using 0 flips as recently as last yr. So I'm not certain this is an old flip.

WinPitcher- if that's not an old flip, then uh oh for PSA .......... chaz
Not sure what the problem is?
Steve
I wouldn't mind owning the card, I just wouldn't pay 5 k for it.

<< <i>I see it, the card is horizontal, so, perhaps it slid in under the 'eye appeal' thingy.

Not only that but it's got the "diamond cut" going on too. chaz
even better horizontal
We can debate here all day long if this card is an 8 or 9 or a 7 for that matter.
The bottom line is what would a perfectly centered 9 go for?
Steve
you would have called PSA up and demanded it be re graded? That it should be a 7 or 8?
I wonder how some of you guys would be 'seeing' this card then.
Steve
<< <i>I'd be willing to bet that it's trimmed on at least one edge and possibly two. >>
I'll guess left and top based on the horizontal
My neck hurt for about a day after too.
As for the cert number has it been decided when it was graded?
04..... I think were done last year.
Steve

But PSA does grade handcut cards. Just not sheet cut.
P.S. Hi Chaz.

"Bruno Tonioli."

<< <i>So Chaz ( and others) are you saying that if you sent this card in raw and it received the PSA 9 which it did
you would have called PSA up and demanded it be re graded? That it should be a 7 or 8?

Steve- I would be shocked if I got a 9 on it. I would not send it back for regrading and I guess I would let the market determine it's value which is what happened. I hear a lot about buying the card and not the holder which is a lot of bull. I guess there are different grades within the grade like centered 8's for years always commanded a higher premium even though it is still an 8. chaz

That's right!!! Hooray for the Hand Cuts !!!!!!!!!! chaz
PS : HI DetroitFan !! Hope you are having a great evening! chaz
Chaz, the person that bought that card may have liked it for the amount he spent.
No one has still yet said what a centered beast of a 1960 Mantle in 9 would go for.
Lets say the card is not trimmed, the corners are sharp, the color is all there, I assume the gloss is too.
aside from the centering (which IMO) is not as bad as you claim it to be the card is decent.
I have seen worse examples is all I'm saying.

The holder looks ok. chaz

Ok Steve. chaz
I too prefer the Ex/MNT card, but then again that is the grade I collect the most.
