Any decent coin shops in North Houston?

ElKevvoElKevvo Posts: 4,134 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am headed to Houston to visit with the in-laws and probably will not have much to do on Friday since I have fixed most everything I possibly can around their house over the last few years. I might take my kids over to see the Texas (BB-35) but if that falls through I'd like to visit a coin shop or two. Can anyone recommend some B&M in the North Houston area (my in-laws live in the Aldine area)?

Thanks and have a great Friday!

Anyone? This got sent down to page 2 quickly so I thought I would bump it and see if anyone in the afternoon crew had a thought about it..

I don't think a coin shop would last in Aldine unless they had a SWAT team surrounding it. You might find some pawn shops there though.

  • I have bought coins from Royalty Coins in Houston. Jack Copeland. Not sure where they are located though. Have fun.
  • Not anything in North Houston that I would recommend.....I run Lake Houston Coin & Bullion from my home in Humble but I am not a storefront set-up......your best bet would be to head to Houston Numismatic Exchange in Rice Village area or Royal Coins in Bellaire. Both have a strong inventory to view and both are good dealers to do business with.....IMHO.

The comment about needing the SWAT team is accurate........my wife graduated from Aldine High School back in 1980 and my in-laws still live in the area. Greenspoint was at one time considered to be the next Galleria Area until the surrounding neighborhoods turned ugly.....I now refer to the place as "Gunspoint"

    Good luck in your search

  • Heh! I just tried to set up an appointment at the Aldine Health Center, but nothing was open so I need to call back next week.
I often go to the Houston Numismatic Exchange, since I live nearby it.

That's funny....my wife graduated from Aldine in 1984 and my in-laws still live there too...it is funny to hear them talk about how nice the area used to be and how some of the sections were so much nicer than others!

Amazing how it has changed...and I agree with the Gunspoint!

  • Lived here nearly all my life.

I would not recommend Houston Numismatic Exchange at all.

OTOH, Royal Coin is the best store in the entire area by a wide margin.
