I don't actively collect sports cards or memorabilia for either, but I do think I have a jersey card of Texiera--at least the name sounds familiar.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • some pop, low average; walks occasionally; i cant comment on his defense. Dont think this is much of an upgrade.

Tanked down the strech for the sox, not a surprising move.

The Yanks will love Swisher's defense at first base. He will rebound at the plate too. Good move for the Yanks, not so good for the beloved Sox.

Beside playing 1st base he also can play centerfield.

Giambi may still be the better hitter, but Swisher is 8 years younger and is mobile.

    Good for you.

I don't think you miss him that much... hopefully Kenny will spend some of Jerry's money and bring in a real CF and replace Crede with something better (I like Joe but he could not stay of the DL) and possibly replace Dye with a young upgrade.

I agree, a CF would be great. If only Anderson could hit. Konerko, Thome, and Dye are long in the tooth with Dye being the guy who could be of interest to other clubs. Not sure what they could get for Paulie or Thome.

This sure won't put them over the top. Swisher has declined in BA and OBP for the last 3 years. He has a reputation for partying hard and NY seems the wrong area for him. To me it's a middling deal that won't have much impact other than flexibility in their lineup. A healthy Giambi with bad defense is still better than what Swisher will give them.

I am surprised that the Yankee's didn't go after Matt Holliday last year before they made the deal with the Pirates. In retrospect Holliday would have been a great pickup and they do have the means to resign him. Wouldn't be surprised if Holliday doesn't end up a Red Sox by season's end.
