Do you ship out of the USA

I know this has been covered before but I've been getting several e-mails from buyers outside the US. I'm wondering how much money I'm losing by not allowing foreign buyers. Now before all the Canadians bash me I'll normally ship to Canada if the buyer e-mails me and has good feedback.

If you ship to places like Hong Kong and Australia what's the best way to protect myself as a seller?

  • Good Morning,
Ship to Austrailia just like normal, never had a problem, but have always been under $1000. Over a grand I would have them pay the extra to be sure they recieved. I don't ship to Hong Kong or most Asian places, too many scams, just not worth the few lost sales.

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
  • You have to if you want to make money. I frequently sell my item's to buyers in the United Kingdom, France, and Spain.
  • I don't even ask if I can bid anymore, if I enter a bid and it goes through, good. If the bid doesn't go through, good.

I find that usually when I'm blocked for living in Canada, some sellers will accept my bid. But it will take no less than 2 or 3 more emails to the seller to get everything straightened out so I can actually enter a bid.

I'm don't want to bash anyone for this, if you don't need the customers, that's awsome.

Personally, if we're selling something that's worth the time, money, effort, and risk to send overseas .... we do it.

We've been mailing packages all over the world since 1999, with an extremely high success rate, to many countries we never knew existed, like Latvia, Palau and Bhutan.

It really depends on what you're selling.

Overseas buyers will pay premium dollars for brand name imported clothing like Hugo Boss and other items that haven't hit
    their borders yet.

If you're talking strictly about sending "sportscards" overseas, some sellers say that the inability to create an eBay PayPal postage label online, for 1st Class International packages weighing only a
few ounces, is their main reason for not accepting bids from international buyers.

Another reason could be the customs forms and the constant requests to mark as "Gift"; not to mention the fudging of values.

Bottom line: More bidders = Higher bids = More profit.

    JMHO,

Make sure you don't charge more than $2.50...that would be gouging.

I have to Canada,Germany and Milatary bases.I had no problems with Milatary bases and Canada but took a big postage hit sending to Germany as I really did not know the proper or best metod. Now I limit myself to USA only and Canada on occaision if I have had experience with the seller.

US only, Canada if I know the person or they meet certain conditions- no paypal (which means it can't be an ebay sale anymore) and I will declare the full amount of the sale on the customs form. Too many Canadian buyers asking me to put down "gift" on a $500 card, and you can't insure it then.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

thanks for adding something to this do you feel better about yourself?

I asked this question since I ship honestly and do not add mark ups to my shipping – I guess you enjoy ripping people off.

My opinion is if a "foreigner" is so interested in cards or coins, then perhaps they have some sort of "connection" to the US and knows someone who immigrated here or they already have family here. So if they want my item so badly, I'll be happy to ship it to any US address, and then that party can ship it to them. No way am i shipping it direct to them - just isn't worth it to me, not even close to being worth it.

Depends also on the profit margin. If buying stuff relatively cheap with little or no cost, and selling it for a nice profit, then why not ship overseas, occasionally get stiffed, but in the long run make a decent buck. My stuff though is low profit for the most part, some of it expensive, quick flip type stuff, and I can't afford to get stiffed on it

If you sell basketball cards,I would definately sell worldwide. I say more than half of my high end basketball sells to Asia. If its over $200 I send registered air mail. Otherwise for the most part its first class international.

What would be a fair price in your book, $1.00? I'm not sure about you, but I don't like losing money on shipping. I don't make more than $0.25 or so, but I'm certainly not about to lose money. In regard to domestic shipping, as has been mentioned hundreds of times in this forum (that's why there is a 'Search' function), anywhere up to $3.25-$3.50 is probably acceptable. This really isn't a surprise to anyone (at least it shouldn't be).

Please read the other thread if you are really interested in what I charge - for some reason I think you could careless and just want to argue. I'm sorry to bring this back up, but I guess other than you no one else has felt the need to say use the search button. If you did not want to look at this topic then just ignore it... but I assume you would rather give me a hard time since I disagreed with you in another thread.

Thanks for everyone else for taking the time to post – I thought that was what a message board was meant for anyway.
