Charlie Weis on the hot seat at Notre Dame?

A rather lively discussion topic this afternoon on "Around the Horn". According to rumors something is going on behind the scenes
to buy out the remainder of his contract apparently after the season is over.

    He probably needs to win the rest of his games to have any chance of being back next year.

    Prediction: He will join the Lions in 2009 as offensive coordinator.

    How does Weis compare to Willingham and Davies? At what point does the Notre Dame following shrink to the level that they lose their private TV network? I am guessing that it will take a few more years, but it will happen if they do not turn things around. The last ND game I watched was a bowl game a few years ago. Oregon State beat them like a rented mule.

    I know the last name of the QB-his brother cost USC a national championship a few years ago with a pick against UCLA. I can not name any other player on the team. ND has been in the football wilderness for many years. Alabama emerged from that wilderness this year; ND can too if they get the right coach.
