OK, he always gets mad when I say this, but as it is my opinion: NOT NATURAL TONING. As many others with experience on this board may attest, we (and I) have seen many of these crowns and other than some lame attempts at toning they just do not look this way.

I know, I know, some people essentially believe that all toning is natural - after all it is God's way, right? - but this one I would call out regardless of its TPG status.

Still, whatever floats each and every person's boat is alright....

I don't know what would make cupronickel tone this way, but I don't think it's natural. I've seen many of these come out of their original plastic black holder after 30 years with just pale blue or rose tints.

Have you seen a naturally toned Ike dollar like this? Or a Kennedy half? (at least I think those are cupronickel, too - correct me if I'm wrong).

I have multiple sets of New Zealand pre-decimal CU/Ni coins (and some other world issues) that have wonderful toning.
And I used to own a colorfully toned 1903 Liberty V nickel and many color toned Buffalo nickels.
So it's possible. However, this example does not look right to me.

I would really have to see the coin in hand before making a judgement on NT ot AT.

No amount of toning (AT or NT) can take the ugly out of a Churchill Crown.

Kennedy 50¢ are cupro-nickel only after 1970 with the exception of bicentennial issues in 1975/1976. In 1964 they were 90% silver, 1965-1970 were silver-clad (40% silver), and proofs bicentennials were also silver-clad. Other than that, issues after 1970 were cupro-nickel clad.

Careful. The mods here have zapped any and all discussion of that AT monster that made its way from a PCI problem slab into a PCGS legit slab. They don't want word of that abomination to get around. Be well, citizen.

This message was emailed by the consignor. I must admit the coin was not easy to image and perhaps it was my fault for not being 100% accurate but I think whoever wins the coin will be satisfied.

<< <i>The coin came out of a large collection of coins which based on the
writing on the boxes and flips, the collection clearly hadn’t been
touched in probably 30 years. The collection included many bank wrapped
rolls and sealed boxes from various mints dating from the 60’s and
earlier. No coin in the collection was dated in the 1970’s or later.
This coin (and 4,000+ others) were housed in very old Kraft-type
envelope which was starting to disintegrate. The toning is absolutely
100% natural. A handful of other clad coins from the same collection
have taken on colorful toning including the Israel coins that you
currently have listed. Also, many of the silver and copper coins toned
    up nicely. >>

The first picture looks like a NT coin. I think that one has to look at it in hand before jumping to conclusions. I am wondering about the target toning on the obverse however, but only because it is framing Churchill perfectly. -Dan

One note in response to the assumption that I get mad if somone thinks some of my coins are AT. I don't grade the coins, I just sell consignments (mostly third party graded coins) from collectors and dealers all over the world. What has bothered me in the past were comments made on my advertisement page on the PCGS buy sell and trade forum. There is a time and place for everything. Your comments here are fine and welcomed.
