I'm anxiously awaiting the results this afternoon. However, I am very, very certain that Tim Lincecum will win the award. In fact, when you look at the voting scores, I don't believe it'll even be very close.
I followed ALL of the candidates very closely all season -- and I'm very sure that Lincecum will win it. If there was a way of betting on it at this very moment, I'd bet a thousand bucks that I'm right -- but we'll see. In my opinion, this is kinda like betting on a horse race AFTER it has been run. I've already seen the "horses" run the race -- I've seen the "photo" -- and I've listened to many different opinions of who will be declared the winner and why.
I'll stake my baseball reputation on the fact that Lincecum will win the award this afternoon.
In a few more hours, we'll know if I'm right.

<< <i> Just an individual award for a player on a team that hasn't won a world series since 1954 or so... in other words, they still SUCK as a team... and baseball is a team sport. >>
I like your style. Good reply!

Do you have a point, or are you just being a bitter Dodger fan?
Yes, baseball's a team sport, but recognizing individual accomplishment is part of the game. Otherwise, why would folks get bent out of shape when Bonds attacked the HR record? Why would 61* have ever been an issue? Why would there be Gold Gloves, Silver Sluggers, MVP awards, Cy Young awards, and Rookies of the Year?

Those are excellent points that you make, digicat.
As for larryallen73 and bman90278, they're clearly just bitter LA fans. My guess is that each of those guys has spent plenty of time as the back end of a 2-part horse's costume. And those guys take pride in being the back end of that team sport.
I don't think any of us said anything that Tim Lincecum didn't deserve the award. It's honestly a premiere award for a pitcher and it looks like he well deserved it this year. I'm all for the individual awards that are given out and hopefully he can adjust to the hitters over his career.

<< <i>Hardly bitter. It was just a light hearted joke that the sensitive Nor Cal fan can't take. >>
