God Bless America - Veteran's Day Nov 11, 2008

Hi Guys,

Please take a second today to give thanks to our Vets past and present.

I thought some of you would enjoy this article ... History of Veteran's Day.

For those of you that have served ... I thank you!

For those of you that have sons/daughters, other family members or friends currently serving ... I salute them with honor!

For those that have lost a family member to protect our great country ... I pray for them!

If you have a flag ... please remember to display it with pride!

Absolutely. We should all be very grateful and appreciative of anyone who would put their life on the line for our country.

Since this thread isn't directly related to a baseball card, it'll probably be deleted in the next 10 minutes.

Thanks for the great post PoppaJ and I hope it stays here.

I would also like to thank all of our current armed forces and Veterans for their great commitment to our great Country. I would also like to remember my wifes father Antonio who sadly passed away a few years ago after a long bout with Agent Orange. He was a Black Beret in Vietnam and received many awards during his 2 tours of duty in the late 60's. Agent Orange caused him many physical and mental health issues not to mention the sad issues it caused the family. I would also like to remember my late father who was a TSgt in the USAF and served from 58 to 66. He never saw actual war time but proudly served and always had great memories during his time enlisted.

A local WWII veteran died recently, before he died he designed this Korean War memorial. The day he died I went and took a few pics.

My father in law fought in Vietnam and still has problems talking about it.

Forever grateful to those who sacrificed their time, efforts, and lives to protect what we believe in.

Thank you to all the veterans who have served our country.

Thank you Veterans, especially my Dad.

Last winter I did the vinyl graphics for our local Rolling Thunder Chapter. I only charged them for the material, and did all of the design work and labor for free, donated to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Country. It took me about 3 months worth of weekends to get this all done. It was pretty fun! They loved it.

I recently received my Great Grandfather's burial flag. He was an MP during WWII and served heavily during the Battle of the Bulge, most notably combating Operation Greif by detaining and eliminating English speaking Germans who had infiltrated allied forces in guise of American MPs. I never met the man, he died in the '60s, but I'm looking to find a proper display for his flag. I found a neat set that includes a built in picture frame and medal display area that I think will look nice together.

To my grandfathers who have served, my friends who have and are currently serving, and to the masses who have, are, and will do the same (especially you fellas on this forum), much appreciation for your sacrifice.

  • My Dad was a WW2 combat vet in the Pacific theater and was poised to invade Japan just prior to them dropping Nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He told me he visited Nagasaki 2 months after the blast. I always expected him to glow in the dark after we turned off the lights!
  • Great Thread
May I also add all Canadian Vets and present members serving in Afghanistan, today we here in Canada call it Remembrance Day.
God Bless the troops, keep them safe, and Thank You

    Cool thread

My dad was in the military towards the end of the Korean war.

Glad he made back okay or I would never have been here. That would have sucked image

Thank You to all of our Men and Women serving currently and in the past.

Also want to say that I am grateful to my father who served in the USMC during the Vietnam war and received a purple heart from combat action, although he hates to talk about it and has survivors guilt he is my personal hero.
